The world's first 1,000 Nm³/h offshore floating PEM hydrogen production system has completed integrated installation, commissioning, and trial operations at a shipyard in Southern China. The system is operating stably and scheduled for immediate shipment to its designated deep-sea location, with official commissioning expected within the year.

Independently developed by Qingsheng Chuanghe Energy Technology, the system delivers a hydrogen production capacity of 1,000 Nm³/h, corresponding to a 5 MW-level power rating, and passed full-power testing in October 2025. Featuring a modular integrated design, the unit offers lightweight construction, wave resistance, anti-corrosion protection, off-grid operation, and intelligent control capabilities. On technical specifications, the system maintains a DC power consumption of less than 4.3 kWh/Nm³ and a dynamic response time of 5 seconds, allowing it to adapt seamlessly to offshore wind power fluctuations.
China possesses 2.78 billion kW of exploitable offshore wind resources, with deep-sea areas accounting for 1.23 billion kW. Addressing the high transmission costs associated with long-distance deep-sea power grid connections, the project explores a viable technical pathway via "Offshore Wind + PEM Electrolysis."
Once operational under deep-sea conditions, the system is expected to produce China's first kilogram of green hydrogen generated from deep-sea offshore wind, marking a key transition for the nation's offshore PEM hydrogen equipment from coastal testing to deep-sea commercial application.
