US$22.3 Million Demonstration Project for 1,000-Ton-Scale Magnesium-Based Solid-State Hydrogen Storage Materials Under Public Review

HEBI, China — August 24, 2026 — An application demonstration project for 1,000-ton-scale magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage materials in Qixian County, Hebi City, central China’s Henan Province, has entered the environmental impact assessment (EIA) review process.

The project, developed by Qixian Hydrogen-Electric Era New Materials Co., Ltd., has a planned investment of approximately US$22.3 million, equivalent to RMB 150 million. The Hebi Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment has published a public notice regarding its proposed approval of the project's EIA document.

The project will be located at the intersection of North Taoyuan Road and West Yongda Road in Weidu Sub-district, Qixian County, Hebi City. The site covers approximately 29,087 square meters.

According to the project plan, the developer will lease existing factory buildings owned by Henan Meichuyou New Energy Co., Ltd. for production.

The facility will include three production lines for alloy melting, holding and heat preservation, and casting, as well as one material filling unit. Supporting facilities will include feeding systems and environmental protection equipment.

The project is designed to support the industrial-scale development and application of magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage materials. Its progress through the EIA review process marks a further step toward the development of solid-state hydrogen storage manufacturing capacity in the region.
